Active Home Week

It's Active Home Week from today, Monday 27th April to Sunday 3rd May, so let's get moving! Here's a fun way to be active!
Don't forget to write down 4 activities that you did each day! 60 minutes of being active is so important for healthy children!

Lovely work from Olivia!

What a beautiful picture Olivia painted at home! Well done, Olivia!

Women in Sport Week!

We have been celebrating Women In Sport week in St. Clare's. Today we had an exciting assembly with two superstars of sport from Cavan. Leona and Lisa Maguire came to visit our school and talk about playing golf professionally around the world. They were so interesting and really nice. They told us they loved all sport and started playing golf when they were 10 years old. They knew when they were 15 years old that they wanted to play golf professionally. They have met lots of famous sports stars like Tiger Woods and Katie Taylor. They told us that they shared an apartment with Katie at the Olympics in Rio! Wow!!
What an inspiration to our girls in St. Clare's.

Happy World Book Day 2020!

We had a lovely morning visiting Eason's Bookshop with our World Book Day tokens. We all picked out a book to bring home and got a little treat too!

Junk Kouture

Wendy has been so busy over the last few weeks, with the pupils in our class. We all helped to design an outfit made out of junk materials, inspired by the Junk Kouture competition that is run each year for secondary schools. Our model's name is Zara! Wendy also brought in a pair of shoes made out of recycled elastic.
Come and check out our display outside Room 12.

Here are some designs we made ourselves!

Our EGGciting EGGsperiment

We were learning about taking care of our teeth. Wendy showed us how to do a really cool Science Experiment to see the effect that liquids have on our teeth. We put eggs in different liquids and waited 3 days before checking them and seeing the results.
Here are the eggs in the jars of liquids.
Today we opened the jars and here is what happened.

The biggest change in colour was the egg in tea. The shell turned a really dark brown. The egg in Coke had black and brown spots all over it.

The vinegar was the most disgusting one. The shell dissolved in the vinegar and the egg turned to jelly! Horrible! Don't eat this one!

Thanks a million Wendy! We learned a lot about our teeth.
